ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - Croatia's Vice Premier and presidential
candidate of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Jadranka Kosor, on Tuesday
dismissed an article from Novi List daily reading that "Jadranka Kosor is
paving the way to the deployment of the Croatian Army in Iraq". Kosor said that
she opposed the sending of Croatian soldiers to Iraq "as Veterans Minister and
as a mother".In a statement issued by the HDZ, Kosor said that the article was
"completely contrary to (her) frequently publicly stated position on the
deployment of Croatian soldiers in Iraq".
"I expressed my complete and unambiguous opposition to the deployment of
Croatian soldiers primarily as Veterans Minister who every day faces the
consequences of the war and aggression on Croatia," Kosor said.
The minister said the article was an imputation serving the purposes of
daily politics.
