"If he is not criminally responsible, which means that the legislation is bad in that segment, Zuzul is in any case politically and morally accountable," Letica said at a news conference in the eastern city of Pozega where he launched his pre-campaign ahead of the presidential elections.
"I do not want to be either a president-ornament like Stjepan Mesic or a president-escort like Jadranka Kosor, but to be a president as the Constitution defines it," he said.
He criticised the government for manoeuvring in making a decision on the date of the elections.
"As long as the elections are not called, the government can lead a campaign for the HDZ presidential candidate Jadranka Kosor at tax payers' cost, which is not fair," Letica said, adding that the fund-raising for his campaign would be transparent.
Letica predicted that he and Kosor, as the candidate of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), would be the two who would race for the post in the second round.
