After she opened a local senior citizens home, for the reconstruction of which her ministry allocated 2.1 million kuna, Kosor was asked by reporters to comment on the current state of affairs in the country.
Asked to comment on events ahead of the official announcement of the date of presidential elections, Kosor said that it now seemed that the campaign would be fierce and possibly "dirty". She added that she would not participate in mud-slinging, as she would conduct an affirmative campaign with clear programmes, but she would strike back, if necessary.
"I believe that voters will recognise my perception of the institution of the President of the Republic, who first of all should protect and promote state and national interests," said Kosor, who is the presidential candidate of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Asked whether she believed that President Stjepan Mesic had so far advocated state interests in a dignified manner, the HDZ candidate answered that she would give her opinion on the matter in the election campaign, but added that she believed that "that job can be done in a different and better manner".
Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks was also proclaimed an honorary citizen of Beli Manstir on the occasion of the town's day.
