SARAJEVO, Nov 14 (Hina) - Bosnian Croat Miroslav Bralo aka Cicko, whom the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has indicted for war crimes, was transferred to The Hague on Friday, the Stabilisation Force (SFOR) in Sarajevo confirmed on Saturday.

In a brief statement, the SFOR command said that Bralo had surrendered voluntarily on November 10 and that until his transfer he had been in an SFOR base.

The statement also reads that Bralo's surrender is an example which should be followed by all other indictees.

Bralo, a former member of the Croatian Defence Council's (HVO) special unit "The Jokers", is charged with participation in war crimes against Bosnian Muslims in 1993, including the massacre in the central Bosnian village of Ahmici. He is charged with participation in the arrest and imprisonment of Bosnian civilians, the torture and killing of prisoners and multiple rape.

According to Bralo's attorney Bozo Kovacevic, since the issuing of the indictment against him, Bralo has had residence in Bosnia-Herzegovina and never applied for Croatian citizenship.

Croatian official sources previously confirmed that Bralo, although an ethnic Croat from Bosnia-Herzegovina, was not a Croatian citizen.

Bralo is expected to make his initial appearance before the UN tribunal early next week.
