MOSTAR, Nov 3 (Hina) - The head of the European Parliament Delegation to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania and Serbia-Montenegro, Doris Pack, said during a visit to the southern Bosnian city of Mostar on Wednesday that the Croats as a constituent nation in Bosnia-Herzegovina had the right to have their own television station and education system.

Pack was the first prominent Western official to publicly express her support for a Croatian-language television network to be established in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) members of the Bosnian Parliament recently asked for a separate, Croatian-language television channel to be set up in the country. The Office of the international community's High Representative (OHR), the European Commission Delegation and the British ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina have expressed their opposition to the initiative in separate statements.

Pack said that the High Representative should increasingly transfer his powers to domestic authorities. In her opinion, the Muslim-Croat Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina is a hostage to Republika Srpska, because the Serb entity has not extradited indicted war criminals to the Hague tribunal.

In meeting the requirements for admission to European institutions, all sides in Bosnia-Herzegovina must hand over war crimes indictees. The Croats and the Bosniaks have done so, while the Serbs have not, Pack said.
