ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - Croatian trade union federations which on
Thursday said they would not attend a session of the Social and Economic
Council scheduled for next Tuesday, as they had not yet received pertinent
material, have decided to accept the latest proposal by the government that the
next session only be an opportunity to exchange information on a draft 2005
state budget and tax reform."Given that all materials for the session have not yet been completed,
namely a draft state budget for 2005 and proposals for the tax reform, the
government has endorsed the unions' stand that those issues cannot be discussed
without the relevant material," the head of the Croatian Independent Trade
Unions, Kresimir Sever, told Hina.
The session, scheduled for November 2, will also be attended by Prime
Minister Ivo Sanader, and Finance Minister Ivan Suker, who will speak about tax
reform.
