CRIKVENICA, Oct 17 (Hina) - The first international seminar on the roleof trade unions in the protection of professional and social rights ofjournalists, which is part of the CARDS programme aimed at theprotection of the rights of
reporters in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia,Macedonia and Serbia-Montenegro, ended in the Croatian coastal town ofCrikvenica on Sunday.
CRIKVENICA, Oct 17 (Hina) - The first international seminar on the
role of trade unions in the protection of professional and social rights of
journalists, which is part of the CARDS programme aimed at the protection of
the rights of reporters in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and
Serbia-Montenegro, ended in the Croatian coastal town of Crikvenica on
Sunday.The Croatian Reporters' Trade Union, which is the regional coordinator
of the CARDS programme, organised the Crikvenica seminar in cooperation with
the International Federation of Journalists.
Participants in the event agreed that it was necessary to organise
reporters in south-eastern European countries as good as possible so as to
prevent social dumping and strengthen the role of reporters' unions in
transition countries, the Croatian Reporters' Trade Union secretary-general,
Marinka Boljkovac, said.
The programme on the protection of reporters' rights will continue over
the next 18 months and Croatia will organise six seminars and
Serbia-Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia another six.
