UN committee members put over a hundred questions to a Croatian delegation, which included representatives of several ministries, the Office of the Public Prosecutor and the Office of the Ombudsman for Children, regarding primary and secondary education, social welfare, health care and legal provisions relating to children, particularly the work of the Office of Children's Ombudsman.
"Croatia has incorporated into its legislation all the most important international documents and conventions relating to children's rights, and has made huge progress in this area since 1996," Zganec said at a press conference in Zagreb.
He said that the criticism by the UN committee, which also receives information from non-governmental organisations, was mainly directed at specific cases of violence against children in certain institutions and the protection of children victims of war.
