This amount is part of the overall package totalling close to EUR8 million which the EU had earmarked for environmental projects in third countries in 2004, the European Commission reported on Thursday.
A total of EUR484,000 has been earmarked for the implementation of Croatia's national waste management strategy. The second project refers to the establishment of institutional, legal and organisation capacities for meeting Croatian obligations from the Kyoto Protocol and UN Convention on climate changes. The EU will finance this project with EUR368,870.
The third project financed by the EU is worth EUR219,000 and aims at the protection of the Mura river basin.
