NEW YORK, Sept 21 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader arrived in New York on Monday to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sanader will participate in a general debate, which opens on Tuesday. The discussion is expected to focus on the fight against international terrorism, the situation in Iraq, UN reform and the implementation of the UN millennium development goals.

The Croatian prime minister is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Wednesday, when the Assembly will also hear speeches by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and US President George W. Bush.

On Monday evening, Sanader was due to attend a dinner given by the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, the Jewish association advocating religious freedoms and human rights in the world, in the honour of Swedish Prime Minister Goeran Persson. The Croatian prime minister was one of the guests of honour.

On the margins of the General Assembly session on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sanader will have bilateral meetings with Gambian President Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, representatives of Jewish associations, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, Swiss President Joseph Deiss and Portuguese Prime Minister Pedro Miguel de Santana Lopes.

The Croatian delegation includes Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul, who will also have a series of bilateral meetings. On Monday, Zuzul was invited to attend a reception given by German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, while on Tuesday he is due to meet Serbia and Montenegro's Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic.
