BELGRADE, April 17 (Hina) - The newly elected Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro, Vuk Draskovic, has called on the ICTY indictees, army and police generals Nebojsa Pavkovic, Vladimir Lazarevic, Sreten Lukic and Vlastimir Djordjevic, to surrender to the Hague-based war crimes tribunal.
BELGRADE, April 17 (Hina) - The newly elected Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro, Vuk Draskovic, has called on the ICTY indictees, army and police generals Nebojsa Pavkovic, Vladimir Lazarevic, Sreten Lukic and Vlastimir Djordjevic, to surrender to the Hague-based war crimes tribunal.#L# "If somebody thinks he's a hero, then he should do a heroic act , surrender to The Hague and defend Serbia in a heroic manner and not cause damage to the Serbian people and the country. Of course it is up to the government (...) to talk to these people who are avoiding The Hague," Draskovic told Serbian Radio Television on Friday evening. Draskovic stressed the positive attitude of Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and said Croatian officers who had recently surrender to the Hague tribunal should be an example The new foreign minister said the extradition of the ICTY indictees was Serbia-Montenegro's international obligation and failing to meet international commitments was directly damaging state and national interests.
