Deputies of the Democratic Party voted against, saying that they did
not want to be in any kind of coalition with the Socialist Party of
Serbia of Slobodan Milosevic, whose deputies supported Sami.
Deputies of the Serbian Radical Party did not vote.
Sami was elected parliament president after Dragoljub Micunovic
resigned from the post on March 4.
The new parliament president said the parliament would hold a session
next week to discuss the situation in Kosovo.
Speaking about the parliament's priorities, Sami said they included
the appointment of judges of the Court of Serbia and Montenegro and
the adoption of a new law on the army and other legal regulations
which need to be in line with European standards.
