"The first task of those troops will be to try to defend Serbs from
Albanians who are evidently organised and motived by ethnic
cleansing," Svilanovic told Radio B9. He said the incidents in Kosovo
were aimed at entirely removing Serbs from Kosovo.
The first task is to stop the violence within the framework of the
territorial organisation of Kosovo and decentralisation so as to
establish mechanism which would enable Serbs to live in Kosovo,
Svilanovic said and added that only then dialogue was possible.
Svilanovic, who attened the UN security Council Session in New York,
said Serbia wanted guarantees that the United States would not allow
the ethnic cleansing.
