The arrest had previously been reported by the Sarajevo daily
newspaper Dnevni Avaz, which cited unnamed official sources.
The Prosecutor's Office said that the Bosnian Federation police had
arrested Fazlic in Sarajevo on February 4 on a warrant issued by the
Department for the Prevention of Organised and White-Collar Crime and
Corruption.
The Office said that Fazlic would be questioned by the State
Prosecutor and that the investigation would continue.
According to Dnevni Avaz, the senior police official leaked
information to persons for whom arrest warrants had been issued and
received hefty sums of money in return.
Fazlic was allegedly identified as a person responsible for concealing
warrants for the arrest of people suspected of planting an explosive
device that had killed underworld figure Taib Torlakovic two weeks
ago.
