SARAJEVO, Jan 26(Hina) - The section for organised crime, economic
crime and corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia-Herzegovina
on Sunday dismissed claims about unnecessary use of force and
inappropriate arrest of former senior Bosnian Croat officials Ante
Jelavic, Miroslav Prce and Miroslav Rupcic.#L#
In a statement that was carried by Sarajevo media, the Prosecutor's
Office said that Prosecutor John McNair, who conducted the
investigation against the three Croats, saw the video-recording of the
arrest and established that the police had acted in a fair and
professional manner.
The suspects' attorneys and most incumbent Bosnian Croat officials and
parties condemned Friday's operation of the police of the Federation
of Bosnia-Herzegovina, accusing the police of an unnecessary
demonstration of force.
Prosecutor McNair welcomed the decision of the Court of
Bosnia-Herzegovina of Saturday ordering that Jelavic, Prce and Rupcic
be kept in custody for the next 30 days. The Prosecutor's Office said
that the suspects' being kept in custody would ensure their fair
treatment and an unobstructed investigation.
