MAKE-UP OF NEW SERBIAN GOVT. TO BE KNOWN BY END OF NEXT WEEK

BELGRADE, Jan 11 (Hina) - The structure of the new Serbian government will be known by the end of next week, the leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia, Vojislav Kostunica, said after a meeting of parties of the democratic bloc in Belgrade #L# on Saturday. The meeting tackled the issue of whether Serbia will have a majority or a minority government, its composition, and support to government priorities, Kostunica said. He added that the parties would organise meetings of their bodies in the coming days to find the final solution to the make-up of the new government. Kostunica said that arguments for and against both a minority and a majority government were presented at the meeting and that party positions were now much clearer. The meeting was attended by representatives of Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia, Democratic Party officials Boris Tadic and Zoran Zivkovic, the leader of the Serbian Civil Alliance, Goran Svilanovic, Dragoljub Micunovic of the Democratic Centre, and Zarko Korac of the Social Democratic Union. G17 Plus was represented by party president Miroljub Labus and other party officials, while the coalition of the Serb Revival Movement and New Serbia was represented by coalition leaders Vuk Draskovic and Velimir Ilic. None of the participants in yesterday's meeting, except for Kostunica, wanted to make a statement. Apart from parties of the democratic bloc, the Serb Radical Party of Vojislav Seselj and the Socialist Party of Serbia of Slobodan Milosevic have also entered the parliament, which must be constituted by January 27 at the latest.
