Such a government is the easiest means to write the new Constitution,
which is the most important issue, Kostunica said at a news
conference.
Serbian Radical Party vice president Tomislav Nikolic today once again
resolutely dismissed Kostunica's proposal. If that kind of government
is the only proposal of the Democratic Party of Serbia, "the Radicals
won't take part in it and we will have new elections," he told Beta
news agency.
Serbian Revival Movement (SPO) spokesman Vlajko Senic told Radio B92
today Vuk Draskovic's party was against such a government too.
"We don't see ourselves in (it). I think that would be very bad
because such a government would include the Serbian Radical Party and
the Socialist Party of Serbia. That would render the (recent)
elections pointless since constituents mainly voted for democratic and
reformist parties," Senic said.
He added the most acceptable option for the SPO was a coalition of the
so-called democratic bloc -- the Democratic Party, G17 Plus, SPO, and
New Serbia.
The seven parties have not officially begun negotiations on forming
the new government. According to a number of parties, negotiations
might last through the end of next week. Under the Constitution,
Serbia's new parliament must be formed by January 27.
