"After holding consultations on the case of the indictment issued
against Gen. Gotovina by the International Criminal Tribunal for the
former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the Croatian government will hand over the
documents to his lawyers, in compliance with the decision of the
Zagreb Municipal Court," reads a press release issued by the said
office.
The government emphasises that cooperation with the ICTY, within the
UN Security Council's resolutions and the Croatian constitutional law
on the matter, is an obligation of Croatia.
Before deciding to produce the documents to the lawyers, the
government held consultations with the ICTY Prosecution, concluding
that this was an exception rather than a change of the rules of
conduct, the press release said.
