comprised of democratic parties either by joining it or endorsing a
minority government.#L#
Speaking on Television B92, Tadic said his party and Vojislav
Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia had started talks today with a
clear goal -- the benefit of the country and the settlement of
problems.
Tadic said the Democratic Party had not yet held talks with Vuk
Draskovic's Serb Revival Movement or Velimir Ilic's New Serbia. He
added talks on the formation of the new government would resume on
January 8 or 9.
Like other parties of the so-called democratic bloc -- G17 Plus, the
Serb Revival Movement and New Serbia -- the Democratic Party has
rejected Kostunica's proposal that the new government comprise all
seven parties which entered parliament at December 28 elections as
that would bring Vojislav Seselj's Serbian Radical Party and the
Socialist Party of Serbia back to power.
The parties must submit their lists of MPs by January 11. The new
parliament must be constituted by January 27.
