ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - Cakovec, Opatija, Rijeka, Skrad, Varazdin andZabok have been awarded the title of child friendly town/district aspart of a campaign that is being held under the auspices of the UNICEFOffice in Croatia and in
cooperation with the Ministry of FamilyAffairs, War Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity.
ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - Cakovec, Opatija, Rijeka, Skrad, Varazdin
and Zabok have been awarded the title of child friendly town/district as part
of a campaign that is being held under the auspices of the UNICEF Office in
Croatia and in cooperation with the Ministry of Family Affairs, War Veterans
and Intergenerational Solidarity. The titles were awarded at a
ceremony in the Europe House in Zagreb on Saturday. Twenty-one towns and
districts were commended for their projects.
The Child Friendly Cities Initiative was launched in 1996 following a
resolution adopted at the second UN Conference on Human Settlements. The
conference declared that the well-being of children is the ultimate indicator
of a healthy habitat, a democratic society and of good governance.
