ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - Cakovec, Opatija, Rijeka, Skrad, Varazdin and Zabok have been awarded the title of child friendly town/district as part of a campaign that is being held under the auspices of the UNICEF Office in Croatia and in cooperation with the Ministry of Family Affairs, War Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity.

The titles were awarded at a ceremony in the Europe House in Zagreb on Saturday. Twenty-one towns and districts were commended for their projects.

The Child Friendly Cities Initiative was launched in 1996 following a resolution adopted at the second UN Conference on Human Settlements. The conference declared that the well-being of children is the ultimate indicator of a healthy habitat, a democratic society and of good governance.
