DALJ, Sept 5 (Hina) - The majority of ethnic Croat children from Dalj, Aljmas and Erdut in eastern Croatia did not attend the first day of classes at the elementary school in Dalj on Monday because their parents claim that three teachers were active in "the creation of the criminal policy" during the 1990s war in Croatia.

Last week, 200 parents and 300 inhabitants of Dalj, Aljmas and Erdut sent a letter to Education Minister Dragan Primorac, demanding that their children should not be taught by "people who, among other things, are long-standing (Vojislav) Seselj's Radicals".

They also informed Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and local authorities.

About 400 children attend the elementary school in Dalj, including 177 who have classes in Serbian.

Principal Zvonko Konjarik said that all ethnic Serb children and only 80 Croats arrived at school today.

He voiced confidence the issue will be settled at tomorrow's meeting with representatives of the education ministry, Osijek-Baranja County, the school and the parents.
