"The licence means that the quality of our ward and the education of our doctors' team are recognised. This is the first licence to be given to a plastic surgery ward in this part of Europe," the ward head, Zdenko Stanec, said on Wednesday.
An inspection team of the European Plastic Surgery Association has recently concluded that the competence of specialists working at the ward is in compliance with the standards of other European centres. Thus it is possible for Zagreb doctors to exchange knowledge with their colleagues in Europe.
Five specialists in plastic surgery are currently employed at the ward of the Dubrava hospital. They treat about 1,500 patients and perform some 1,000 major operations annually.
