Science minister Primorac meets representatives of Rudjer Boskovic Institute

ZAGREB, Aug 23 (Hina) - The Croatian Science, Education and SportsMinister, Dragan Primorac, on Tuesday received a delegation ofZagreb's Rudjer Boskovic Institute and a member of the institute'sinternational advisory board, French Nobel Prize winner Jean-MarieLehn, who is on a working visit to the institute.
ZAGREB, Aug 23 (Hina) - The Croatian Science, Education and Sports Minister, Dragan Primorac, on Tuesday received a delegation of Zagreb's Rudjer Boskovic Institute and a member of the institute's international advisory board, French Nobel Prize winner Jean-Marie Lehn, who is on a working visit to the institute.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the talks focused on the process of evaluation of Croatia's science system for which Croatia has sought the support of international institutes and prominent scientists.

According to Minister Primorac, the systematic evaluation of Croatia's scientific and research potential is one of the priorities of the country's strategy of scientific development.

Lehn stressed the importance of close cooperation between research institutes and universities and acquainted his host with France's experience in the field. The French scientist and his colleagues Donald J. Cram and Charles J. Pedersen from the United States won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1987.
