DVOR NA UNI, March 18 (Hina) - The land registry of the municipal
court in Dvor na Uni, some 120 kilometres south-east of Zagreb on the border
with Bosnia-Herzegovina, was reopened on Friday. The registry contains
documents for 49 cadastral units which Serb paramilitary units had taken to
Serbia and Montenegro during the 1995 Operation "Storm" and which were returned
to Croatia on December 19 last year. The land registry was opened
by Sisak County Court president Danko Kovac, who said that before the return of
the registers it had not been possible to regulate property-rights relations
or conduct inheritance proceedings.
Kovac said that the registers were in good order and that they were
examined by experts who established that the rebel Serb authorities had entered
only 300 changes during the occupation of Dvor.
The registers were today returned for use by citizens from Dvor
municipality.
Municipal officials warned that registers of births, deaths and
marriages that were taken by the rebel Serb authorities during Operation Storm
had not been returned yet and they supported government activities aimed at
claiming back those registers from Serbia and Montenegro.
