The main topics discussed were bilateral relations between Montenegro and Croatia and the further development of cooperation.
"The development of the relationship and cooperation with Croatia is one of Montenegro's foreign policy priorities, because Croatia is a neighbouring country with which Montenegro shares the border on the sea and on land, and with which it has historical and other ties," Djukanovic said.
The Montenegrin premier welcomed the results Croatia had achieved on its path towards membership of the European Union, saying that this was also important to the neighbouring countries.
The two officials agreed that there was great potential for cooperation in the energy sector, road infrastructure, opening road and shipping routes, and particularly in tourism and related branches of the economy.
In this context they highlighted the importance of directing joint efforts at building the Adriatic-Ionian Highway, which would also be of importance to the development of the region in general.
Djukanovic and Skaric said they were satisfied with the state and prospects of friendly relations between Montenegro and Croatia, adding that continued political dialogue would help in defining priorities in cooperation in different areas.
They also agreed that the Croatian minority in Montenegro and the Montenegrin minority in Croatia were a bridge of cooperation between the countries.
