The announcement was made on Friday during a visit to the border crossing by the Serbian Minister for Capital Investments, Velimir Ilic, the Minister for the Diaspora, Vojislav Vukcevic, and Croatia's Ambassador to Belgrade, Tonci Stanicic.
Ilic said that the initial stage of the project would cost about 10 million euros and that the overall cost would be three times higher.
Stanicic said that Croatia would widen the 25-km-long stretch of the Zagreb-Belgrade highway from Zupanja to the Serbian border because it slowed down traffic.
The European Union has seriously criticised delays at border crossings with Serbia, saying that bottlenecks will no longer be tolerated.
