border police service according to European Union standards, the number of
border police should be increased this year by about 750, Interior Minister
Marijan Mlinaric said on Friday.Speaking at the end of a two-day seminar on the progress of the police
form, Mlinaric said that additional border police officers would be recruited
from other Interior Ministry departments.
Interior Ministry spokesman Zlatko Mehun said that Croatia needed an
estimated 8,000 border police officers and that it had about 3,500 at the
moment.
