ZAGREB, Feb 10 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Thursday held talks with France's minister for European affairs, Claudie Haignere, Seks' office said in a press release.

Seks said his recent visit to France at the helm of a parliamentary delegation had been very successful. He added Croatian-French relations were excellent and that Croatia was certain France was a genuine friend and strategic partner in international relations.

Seks said developing good relations with France at all levels was a Croatian priority and interest, notably now when Croatia expects to start European Union entry talks.

He went on to say that Croatia had undertaken additional activities at the highest state level and was doing everything in its power to convince some EU members of the credibility and consistency of its attempts to close the issue of General Ante Gotovina, who is wanted by the Hague war crimes tribunal.

Minister Haignere conveyed France's recommendation that Croatia must fully prove its cooperation with the Hague tribunal, which she said was crucial for the start of the EU entry talks.

She added that Croatia's determination to submit all evidence in connection with the Gotovina issue had been recognised.

Haignere was also received by the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Gordan Jandrokovic, European Integration Committee chairman Neven Mimica, Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee chairman Milorad Pupovac, and the chairman of the Education, Science and Culture Committee and of the Croatian-French Friendship Group, Petar Selem.
