Opening a session of the HSLS leadership on Saturday in Zagreb, Cehok criticised the incumbent government for failing to quickly set the country in motion thus breaching its pre-election promises.
"The government has not stepped up the industrial output, neither has it cut unemployment, and the European Union has become a mantra with which it would like to enchant citizens," Cehok said.
It is less important whether Croatia will enter the EU in 2007 or 2009, but what is important is whether the country enter the bloc as a strong and socially developed society, he added.
