Cavic says no constitutional conditions for referendum in Bosnian Serb entity

BELGRADE, Aug 17 (Hina) - The president of Republika Srpska, Dragan Cavic, told Radio Television Serbia on Wednesday evening that the holing of a referendum on the status of the Bosnian Serb entity was not possible in present circumstances, given that there were no constitutional conditions for that.

"The right to self-determination and separation in one country can be regulated only by the constitution of that country. Annex IV to the Dayton Agreement is the Constitution of Bosnia-Herzegovina in which this right is not defined," Cavic said.

According to him, nobody in the international community had plans to seriously bring into question the existence of the Bosnian Serb entity, defined by the Dayton Agreement, because the consequences of such an act would be catastrophic.
