The Croatian negotiator in charge of this policy chapter, Martina Dalic, said a good share of Croatian legislation had been adjusted to EU standards in this field, but that there was still work ahead.
A lot has been done in internal auditing over the past three to four years, she said.
In terms of external auditing, the State Audit Office is nearly completely organised and works in accordance with international standards, she said.
Croatia is adjusted to European directives in the protection of the EU's financial interests, Dalic said, adding Croatia would have to set up an office for cooperation with OLAF, the European Anti-Fraud Office.
