ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - Most of the parliamentary parties said at
a session of Parliament on Thursday that the government-sponsored bill on the
security and intelligence network failed to establish proper balance between
the obligation to ensure state security and protect human rights.
Parliamentary parties expressed fear that the fact that security agencies'
chiefs would be allowed to initiate, on their own, measures for clandestine
data collection and to ask the Supreme Court for permission only over the next
24 hours could create enough room for abuse of this power.
The Parliament will resume its session on Friday.
