ZAGREB, Jan 7 (Hina) - Kosovo President and Prime Minister, IbrahimRugova and Bajram Kosumi, leaders of local Albanian parties as well asthe UN Civilian Administrator, Soren Jessen-Petersen, on Saturdayoffered their best wishes to the
Serb Orthodox faithful on theoccasion of Christmas which they celebrate according to the Juliancalendar on 7 January.
ZAGREB, Jan 7 (Hina) - Kosovo President and Prime Minister,
Ibrahim Rugova and Bajram Kosumi, leaders of local Albanian parties as well as
the UN Civilian Administrator, Soren Jessen-Petersen, on Saturday offered their
best wishes to the Serb Orthodox faithful on the occasion of Christmas which
they celebrate according to the Julian calendar on 7 January. In his
note, President Rugova described Christmas as "a day of understanding" and
voiced hope that Kosovo would soon achieve full peace and stability.
Prime Minister Kosumi wished that this great day might help deepen the
relations between all residents in the province.
Celebrations of Christmas were held in Kosovo in a peaceful atmosphere.
Services were performed in monasteries and churches during which the message
of the primate in the Serb Orthodox Church, Patriarch Pavle was read out.
