Sejdiu said he expected the international community to reaffirm again UN mediator Martti Ahtisaari's plan which envisaged Kosovo's independence.
He voiced confidence that this time the adoption of a solution to Kosovo's status would not be blocked, and said the current situation was untenable as it blocked Kosovo's progress and the prospects of its population.
Sejdiu held talks in Pristina with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana's former special envoy in Kosovo, Torbjorn Solstrom, and his successor Jonas Jonsson.
Solstrom said Kosovo had made headway in adjusting its legislation to EU standards and voiced hope that the province's status would be defined soon.
Jonsson announced the continuation of cooperation with Kosovo institutions and work on preparations for the EU civil mission which will replace the UN Mission in Kosovo after eight years.
