Jeremic was the first Serbian foreign minister to visit Montenegro after it became independent of the state union with Serbia in May 2006. He said that a unilateral recognition of Kosovo's independence by Serbia's neighbours "would be harmful for the stability of the region".
"I'm calling on all the countries in the region to show restraint regarding Kosovo's status," Jeremic said after meeting his Montenegrin counterpart Milan Rocen.
Jeremic reiterated that at this moment Serbia pushed for the continuation of negotiations on Kosovo's status, saying this was the only way to achieve a stable and compromise solution.
"Let's not make any moves that would be difficult to recall later," he said.
