If Pristina and Belgrade fail to reach an agreement at the negotiations, the international community will return to UN mediator Martti Ahtisaari's plan of internationally supervised independence for Kosovo, Kouchner told the press after talks with the most senior representatives of the international community, Kosovo institutions, the Kosovo negotiating team and the Serb community in the province.
Additional negotiations are a must in order to see if Russia too will participate in the finalisation of the Kosovo status issue, Kouchner said.
He called on Kosovo leaders to be patient, saying the Kosovo issue was a serious one although not the only issue in the world.
