THE HAGUE, May 18 (Hina) - The Hague war crimes tribunal's
prosecutors and the defence of Croatian army general Ante Gotovina have called
on the UN court's Appeals Chamber to dismiss an appeal by two attorneys
representing general Ivan Cermak against their exclusion from the
Gotovina-Cermak-Markac case over conflict of interest, according to documents
the tribunal released this week. A pretrial chamber removed
attorneys Cedo Prodanovic and Jadranka Slokovic from the case on April 5 and
they appealed the decision on May 4.
The trial of the three Croatian generals, initially scheduled for May
7, has been postponed indefinitely.
Gotovina, Cermak and Mladen Markac are charged with crimes against
Croatian Serbs committed during a Croatian military offensive in the summer of
1995.
