ZAGREB, April 23 (Hina) - Croatian and Austrian Justice Ministers Ana Lovrin and Maria Berger met in Zagreb on Monday to agree the continuation of cooperation in several pre-accession fund projects, such as money laundering prevention and criminal procedure reform.

Lovrin said the meeting and the cooperation between the two states and the two ministries was successful.

She said today's talks had addressed Croatia's judicial reform, international cooperation in the light of an agreement on legal assistance in criminal matters, data exchange, and an integrated court files management project.

Lovrin said cooperation with the Austrian judiciary could help Croatia, notably in the rationalisation of the court network.

Austrian Minister Berger said this was her first official bilateral visit upon stepping into office and that she had wanted Croatia to be the first country she visited.

She said Austria was an advocate of Croatia and wanted to help it join the European Union by 2009.

Berger said judicial reform was very important in EU integration and that she was pleased that Lovrin was optimistic that Croatia could carry it out by 2009. She underlined that Croatia's accession to the EU was also in Austria's interest as some institutes, such as the European Arrest Warrant, became effective only within the bloc.
