A letter to Biskupic, published on the web site of the Serb Orthodox Church, reads that the local office for the protection of cultural monuments in Sibenik has ignored the existence of the Orthodox Church of SS Joachim and Anna in Bribir and that a table put up in the old part of the town mentions Roman Catholic churches, but not the Orthodox heritage.
Patriarch Pavle said such conduct had caused anxiety among the local Orthodox population.
The Serb Orthodox dignitary also mentioned in his letter the cases of three Serb Orthodox churches which he said "the Roman Catholic Church, i.e. the Culture Ministry, have brutally taken possession of".
Patriarch Pavle also cited a resolution of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly which states that the former Yugoslav countries must protect all cultural heritage and historical monuments on their territory that are linked with the historical roots and ethnic and religious identity of the neighbouring countries.
