WI said Japan, Western Europe and China were the principal buyers with support from most sectors of the trade. Of the 14,622 bales offered, 5.4 percent were passed in. Sales continue next week in Sydney, Launceston and Fremantle with about 77,500 bales to be offered. _________________________________________________________________ Bradford - cijene vune - 13. veljače 1997. cijene u penijima/kg _________________________________________________________________ MERINO CROSSBRED 70s SUPER 488 58s SUPER 370 66s SUPER 448 58s BLENDED 348 64s SUPER 400 56s SUPER 340 64s BLENDED 395 54s CARDED 323 60s SUPER 385 50s CARDED 316 60s BLENDED 367 58s ENGLISH 273 56s ENGLISH 261 50s ENGLISH 258 Bradford wool market sees dull, hand-to-mouth trad LONDON, Feb 13 (Reuter) - Higher raw merino prices at Wednesday's wool auction in Australia spurred a limited amount of fresh enquiry at the Bradford tops market, local sources said. Fine merino-based tops were quoted up two to three pence but traders said there were few firm trades and most involved hand-to-mouth purchases. Some topmakers said customer call for deliveries of previously-placed orders had picked up again after a brief lull but others said demand was still slow. One source expressed a common theme among exporters. "Sterling's strength is making new business difficult to the point of impossible," he said. "Buyers have no need to rush into the market-place at the moment because raw wool prices are unlikely to rise at anything other than a slow pace," an industry analyst said. Most tops prices were quoted unchanged with only 58s English following finest tops up two pence after a slightly firmer UK raw wool market. 141101 MET feb 97
