The market seems to pay more heed to firmer values in Australia than to weakness in New Zealand. Some market participants wondered whether an easier pound sterling may mean that prospects of a UK interest rate rise soon have receded. UK prices have been influenced by the strong pound for some months and a check to the currency could bring out business that was delayed while imported wool tended cheaper. 161017 MET jan 97
