Traders said copper and aluminium maintained their upside bias and expected prices to retest recent highs near-term against the backdrop of fairly constructive charts and physical offtake. "At the moment there is overhead selling and resistance in copper and aluminium, though I believe prices should hold support levels," one trader commented. Three months copper was last at $2,248 a tonne, down on Tuesday's LME kerb close of $2,261, but little changed from its 1900 GMT close of $2,242/45. Copper is likely to find support on any dips towards $2,230. Traders said copper was likely to be underpinned by tight nearby spreads. Cash to three months was indicated at $163/$170, against $167/$170. Resistance was expected to emerge at Tuesday's high of $2,288, followed by $2,300. Aluminium slipped to find support near $1,600. It was last at $1,601, down $7, and was looking to consolidate between $1,589 and $1,640. Zinc hit a fresh 10-month high of $1,113 on light short covering. It finished Tuesday at $1,109. Traders and analysts said zinc was poised to test resistance at $1,125, followed by $1,140 and $1,150. Nickel dipped back by $30 to $7,190, while lead edged up $2 to $710. Tin was $6,000, a loss of $35. Alloy was quoted at $1,490/$1,500, versus $1,505/10. FRANCUSKI METALI - 15. siječnja 1997. BAKAR FFR/100 KG 1360 KOSITAR FFR/100 KG 3813 CINK EL.
