SARAJEVO, April 5 (Hina) - UN military observers have registered in
the last 24 hours at least 500 detonations on Mount Majevica in
northeastern Bosnia where the Bosnian army Second Corps and Serb
forces have waged fierce battles.
A hundred explosions have been counted in the nearby Kalesija
area, and a UN spokesman in Sarajevo said that two artillery shells
fell inside the UN-designated safe area around Tuzla.
There have been no reports of casualties.
The Bihac safe area was again the target of Serb artillery
attacks yesterday. UN sources in Sarajevo said that three 130mm
shells hit a textile factory and an apartment building, and that a
45-year-old man was wounded in the attack. Occasional detonations
were also registered in Sokolac, a village inside the Bihac safe
haven.
In the Valika Kladusa area of northwest Bosnia, battles
continued between the Bosnian army and joint Serb and renegade
Moslems forces.
The UN in Sarajevo said that fighting also continued in
central Bosnia, on Mount Vlasic and around Maglaj, but could not
give any details of the situation there as UN military observers
were denied access to Vlasic, Travnik and Novi Travnik.
Bosnian government police yesterday detained a UN patrol in
the Travnik area and let them go late in the night.
