DONJI CAGLIC, Jan 27 (Hina) - The UN Force Commander, Gen. Bertrand
de Lapresle today visited UN Protected Area North.
After visiting an UNPROFOR checkpoint in occupied Donji
Caglic, de Lapresle told reporters he was "impressed" with the
achievements of the Jordanian and Nepalese battalions.
"I have seen that 58 thousand vehicles have passed along the
(Zagreb-Lipovac) highway and I think this is a true example of what
UNPROFOR can do for this region," de Lapresle said.
Asked to explain why several hundred Serbs had returned to the
free part of Sector West while not a single Croat refugee had
returned to his or her home, the general said:
"I suppose the Croats have not returned because the of
inadequate security conditions."
While the general enthused about the achievements of the UN
battalions, the journalists observed Serb gunmen flourishing long-
barrelled weapons, in violation of the Dec 2 Agreement.
