ZAGREB, Feb 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of Counties on
Tuesday unanimously supported a bill on constituencies for local
elections, which was in an urgent parliamentary procedure.
An assistant Minister of Administration, Antun Palaric, said
the act was necessary for the holding of elections.
Palaric added that it was necessary to bring the act into
conformity with a recently adopted act on areas of counties, towns
and municipalities under which a great number of new units of local
self-government and government has been organized.
During a short discussions many amendments were proposed on
including certain settlements and communities into constituencies
and adding new constituencies.
The Upper House backed several bills on confirming
international agreements including a bill on confirming an
Agreement on a loan for urgent reconstruction of transportation and
mine clearance, signed by Croatia and International Bank for
Development and Reconstruction.
The Upper House will be in session on Wednesday.
