ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday will address a joint session of both houses of the
Croatian Parliament, by his report on the state of the nation in
1996.
The joint session of the House of Representatives and the
House of Counties will be attended by state officials, the
judiciary officials, religious dignitaries, members of the Croatian
Academy of Arts and Sciences and universities, Croatian army
officers, Bosnian Croat representatives, members of the diplomatic
corps in Croatia and others.
After the joint session the two houses will continue their
work separately.
The House of Representatives is to consider 37 items on the
agenda. The lower house is expected to discuss a Letter of Intent
by the Croatian Government on the completion of the peaceful
reintegration of the UN-administrated area of eastern Croatia.
The House of Counties will consider 11 bills. It is expected
to discuss a proposal for returning a law on counties, towns and
municipalities to the lower house for reconsideration. The law was
passed by the House of Representatives on January 17. But 27
members of the House of Counties signed a proposal for returning
the law to the lower house, as a great number of the upper house's
amendments was not accepted by the House of Representatives.
