ZAGREB, 16 Jan (Hina) - The House of Representatives on
Thursday continued its session with a discussion on the final
bill on the areas of counties, towns and municipalities. #L#
The proposed state territorial organization was explained
by Administration Minister Davorin Mlakar, who said that
Croatia has more than 400 municipalities and 75 towns.
If the bill was accepted, Croatia would have 422
municipalities and 107 towns, with the city of Zagreb, Mlakar
said.
The bill is also aimed at solving the status of big
cities. The city of Zagreb and Zagreb County would be
separated and the government has proposed that the name of
Zagreb County be changed into Prigorje-Turopolje County.
A number of amendments and proposals had been made
concerning that change, Mlakar said, adding that it seemed
that the name of Zagreb County would remain the same.
