ZAGREB, Jan 27 (Hina) - Croatian exports amounted to US$ 4.51 billion last year, that is, 2.6 percent less than in the year 1995. According to information of the State Bureau of Statistics, imports increased by 3.7 percent,
amounting to US$ 7.79 billion.

Croatia's largest exporters last year were industry and
mining, with US$ 4.39 billion-worth of export, which was 2.4
percent less than the year before.
Agriculture and the fishing industry exported goods worth
US$ 93.9 million, 9 percent less than the year before, and
forestry achieved US$ 27 million-worth of export, or 7.4
percent less than in 1995.
The largest importers were industry and mining with US$
7.08 billion, or 5.2 percent more than in 1995. The imports of
agriculture and fishing industry reached US$ 333 million, 3.2
percent less, while forestry imported US$ 8.7 million worth of
goods, or 1.8 percent less.
Croatian exports into European Union countries last year
decreased by 13.8 percent in relation to 1995, amounting to
US$ 2.3 billion, while imports from EU countries amounted to
US$ 4.63 billion, or 0.8 percent less.
Croatia's most significant European trade partners in
1996 were Italy and Germany. Most Croatian goods were exported
to Italy, US$ 948.98 million-worth, whereby it decreased by
13.6 percent.
Croatia imported US$ 1.42 billion-worth of goods from
Italy in 1996, or 4.1 percent more than the year before.
Most goods were imported from Germany, amounting to US$
1.6 billion, that is, 6.2 percent more than in 1995, while
Croatian exports into Germany reached US$ 839.48 million, or
15.8 less than the year before.
