Speaking at a press conference in Zagreb, Racan rejected criticism from the HSS that the SDP was obstructing coalition talks between the HSS and the HSP.
"It is not true that the SDP does not support the HSS-HSP coalition, but we must know what kind of agreement it is before we support it," Racan said.
Racan announced that the SDP would discuss the issue of post-election coalitions at a party convention scheduled for June 26 and that it would call for urgent changes to the Elections Act.
HSS leader Zlatko Tomcic demanded on Friday that the SDP, as his party's coalition partner, accept a post-election coalition between the HSS and the HSP in Bjelovar County as an exception.
"We believe that there should not be exceptions on one side only," Tomcic told reporters, alluding to the post-election coalition agreement between the SDP and the HSP in Velika Gorica.
