Mesic said it was a privilege for Croatia to host the conference and recalled the importance of culture in connecting nations, especially in formerly war-affected areas.
The Zagreb conference will be dedicated to the impact of new communication technologies on different cultures and current international problems, said Culturelink head Biserka Cvjeticanin.
Culturelink was established by UNESCO and the Council of Europe in 1989 and it is based at the Zagreb Institute for International Cooperation.
The Zagreb conference has pooled 200 participants from 60 countries and it was organised with the support of UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the Croatian ministries of culture and science, education and sport and the Zagreb city authorities.
